In September 1950 a delegation of eight men met with Bishop Francis J. Haas about having a resident pastor in their midst. A year later, in September 1951, the building committe of Our Lady of Fatima met with Bishop Haas about purchasing land for a church. On December 8, 1951, a site of two and a half acres was purchased from the Henry family for $1,200.
Bishop Haas appointed Father Joseph Alksnis resident pastor.
On Sept. 15, 1952, ground was broken for the new church to seat 300 people. The basement structure was completed in time for Christmas liturgies that year. The upper structure was able to be used for Palm Sunday 1954 (although the structure was not completed). The building cost $75,000 to build. A free standing carillon bell tower was completed during the fall of 2000 under the direction of Father Mark Bauer.
The parish hall, in the basement of the church, received new flooring throughout under the direction of Father Schumaker following a flood in June 2019.
